January 2019 Newsletter

Greetings everyone!  Reid here with Best Made Videos®.  I'm sorry this newsletter is coming in so late in the month.  With the holidays and the Seattle Wedding Show taking up the majority of my attention, time really just got away from me.  Earlier this month I had the opportunity to film the launch event for McLaren Bellevue at Drivers Club in Redmond, Wa.  This was a super exciting high-end event for a luxury car company that is currently expanding their footprint across the United States.  My good friend Mike Tablosky who is an awesome wedding and event photographer referred me for the event. We worked together seamlessly to give the client an awesome set of photos and a great video that they can use to market their products for years to come.  You can check out the highlight video here - https://vimeo.com/309364078

Christmas came and went and Dorothy, Rosie and I got to spend Christmas Eve with her family in West Seattle and Christmas Day with my mom, brother and grandma in Bellevue.  We went and saw the new Mary Poppins movie, which was a blast, and got to spend time catching up and not shooting wedding videos (it was hard for me to relax, lol).

Four years ago in December Dorothy and I went down to Kent, Wa where we would find and immediately adopt our beautiful baby dog Rosie!  Rosie was one of three dogs that were available that day for people to check out and potentially adopt.  The other two were suffering from diarrhea  so the shelter was hesitant about actually adopting them out which left Rosie as our first, last and only choice.  To this day I know that we could not have made a better choice in finding the perfect little baby to join our family!

About a week ago Dorothy and I made the trek out to Columbia Winery in Woodinville, Wa for the official launch party of the 2019 Weddings in Woodinville tour.  This is a fantastic wedding tour put on by some of the local Woodinville wineries to show off their property and accommodations as well as some of the best local wedding vendors in the area.  It was great getting to attend the event and to catch up with some of our favorite wedding vendors who will be participating in the wedding tour at the end of the month.  From the Weddings in Woodinville website - "Weddings in Woodinville is a special event designed to give couples and their families and friends a sneak preview of each fully-decorated venue to better envision their special wedding day. It’s an idea fest of innovative décor, amazing wines and tasty tidbits. Unlike any other show, Weddings In Woodinville creates a fun environment for attendees to meet with the finest wedding professionals from this area while being transported in chauffeur-driven luxury transportation."

Finally Dorothy and I rounded out our busy holiday season with the one wedding show that everyone looks forward to all year, The Seattle Wedding Show.  This was a big year for us in particular because this is the first year that we opted to be a sponsor of the wedding show.  Being in business with the Seattle Wedding show (and their 29 years of operation) is something that I felt was extremely important in order to give an extra dose of legitimacy to my wedding videography company.  I felt so honored to be included in the same breath as some of the most deluxe wedding vendors in our area - Azzura Photography, Aria Style and Party on the Rocks to name a few.  I think this was a monumental step for our business and I look forward to seeing the dividends paid off by this relationship for years to come!

Our last wedding of the year might also be my favorite!  Allysa and Jake got married up near Leavenworth, Wa at The Mountain Springs Lodge.  Having always dreamed of having a winter wedding with everything covered in snow, I would say the bride Allysa had her dreams come true!  From a stunning first look held in front of a snow-covered field, to portraits by nearby Lake Wenatchee, to an intimate, warm wedding ceremony in front of an old log fireplace, this is absolutely a one-of-a-kind wedding and one that I will always remember.  Do yourself a favor and check out this couple's fantastic wedding day for yourself and watch their wedding highlight video!

Katie and Chase got married at one of my favorite Seattle Hotels, The Fairmont Olympic on a rainy Friday in October.  Incorporating all of their favorite interests into their wedding day (Zelda music for their wedding ceremony, a Nintendo Switch set up to play during the reception, etc.) these two had such an amazing wedding day and I was so glad I could be there to capture all of the fun that they had.  These two met on the first day of Freshman orientation and have been inseparable ever since!  Here's to wishing these two love birds years and years of love and happiness!!!

Jazmyn and Josh who got married back on May 5, 2018 at The Ballard Locks were gracious enough to take some time to record a video testimonial with us via Skype talking about their experience working with Best Made Videos® for their wedding videography.  I so enjoyed getting to hear their reaction to having their "Same Day Edit" wedding film played at their wedding reception for the first time in front of all of their family and friends. It's definitely a fun watch!!

We released a ton of new episodes of our podcast "Get to Know Your Wedding Pro" this month including interviews with Jen Lagers of Jen Lagers Makeup/Hair/Styling, Jessica Heriot of Jessica Heriot Photography, Katrina Allen of Love Blooms Wedding and Event Design, Markie Jones of Markie Jones Photography and "Melvin" of Melvin's DJ Service.

Monthly Videography Tip!

Don't be afraid to get your dress dirty!!!

One of the hardest decisions a bride has to make on her wedding day is whether or not she wants to get her wedding dress trampled on and dirty or if she wants to try to move heaven and earth in an attempt to keep it crystal clean.  Ok I'm being a little hyperbolic here but when it comes to the actual logistics of the wedding day it really is almost impossible to keep everything perfectly spick and span.  Embracing the dirt from the beginning like bride Allysa (pictured above) means that you, your groom, your photographer and myself can focus on getting YOU the best pictures and video possible and not worrying about getting a stain on the underside of your wedding gown.  Allysa and Jake stood in 3 feet of snow for about 20 min in front of Lake Wenatchee and IMO the pictures and video are worth every piece of dirt on her wedding dress! lol

My job wouldn't be complete without including a nice image of ROSIE! Rosie got a heated blanket for Christmas and she just loves spending time in it curled on our bed! Love that little friend...

Thank you all for checking out our monthly newsletter!  January is almost already over and we are headed to the Kelly Farm on Saturday for Andrea and Jeffrey's wedding with Rebecca Jane Photography, one of our favorite webbing photography teams.  As always, thanks again for your support, I'm off to edit some more wedding videos and to update our blog.  Have a good one!
